Konkuk University Language Institute (KLI) was established in 1971 and transformed into a specialized language education institution in 1990 to cultivate global talent. KLI offers courses from Beginner Level 1 to Advanced Level 6. Each term is 10 weeks long with 200 hours of intensive classes (4 hours per day, 5 days a week), enabling students to rapidly improve their Korean proficiency through communication-focused integrated learning.

Program Overview

Refund Policy (Effective from August 1, 2022)
Tuition includes both instruction fees and administrative service fees. Refunds are processed according to the following standards:
For D-4 Language Training Visa Holders:
- Administrative service fee (800,000 KRW) is deducted from the total tuition
- Refund is calculated based on instruction fees only, according to the table below
- Refund reference date is the date of visa cancellation (complete departure) or date when visa affiliation changes to another institution

Visa & Foreign Resident Registration
Foreign Resident Registration Card
Must be applied for within 90 days of entry. The institute conducts group applications, but individual applications at Seoul Immigration Office (Mok-dong) are also possible.
- Required documents: Integrated application form, passport, passport copy, photo (3.5cm × 4.5cm), enrollment certificate, residence certificate (rental contract or dormitory confirmation), fee: 30,000 KRW
Visa Extension
The institute conducts group visa extensions for re-enrolling students. Individual extensions at Seoul Immigration Office are also possible.
- Required documents: Re-enrollment application form, integrated application form, tuition payment certificate, enrollment and attendance certificate, passport, passport copy, foreign resident card original, residence certificate, fee: 70,000 KRW (group) or 60,000 KRW (individual)
- Eligibility: Students with 85% or higher attendance
- Processing time: Approximately 3 weeks for group applications

Konkuk University Language Institute Regular Course Application Guidelines
This guide is for students applying to the regular Korean language course. Please check the eligibility, required documents, application procedure, tuition, and contact information below.
1. Eligibility
- Overseas Koreans and foreign nationals who have graduated from high school or have an equivalent level of education
- Applicants who can submit documents proving their highest level of education with proper certification according to their country's regulations (Apostille or consular confirmation, etc.)
- Applicants with no disqualifying reasons for attending Korean language classes or staying in Korea
- Applicants for a D-4 visa must register for at least 2 terms (minimum 6 months)

- All countries: Educational documents obtained abroad must be authenticated by the Korean embassy/consulate in the country where the institution is located
4. Admission Regulations (Summary)
- If any false or forged information is found in the submitted documents, admission may be canceled and all fees will be forfeited.
- Submitted original documents are generally not returned. Please verify reissuance possibilities before submission.
- Visa screening is conducted separately by Korean immigration authorities and is independent of admission approval by the institute.
- The institute may request additional documents or interviews during the screening process.
- Admission does not guarantee visa approval. Visa decisions are made solely by immigration authorities.

Level 1 Regular Korean Course Curriculum (Basic 1)
This is an introductory course designed for learners who are studying Korean for the first time. Students will learn to read and write Hangul (Korean alphabet), and acquire basic Korean needed for daily life including greetings, self-introduction, ordering food, shopping, finding directions, and making phone calls.
1. Learning Objectives
- Learn to read and write Hangul consonants and vowels accurately.
- Carry out basic daily communication such as greetings, self-introduction, ordering food, shopping, finding directions, and making phone calls.
- Create simple sentences using basic grammar and fundamental vocabulary for everyday life.
- Understand and express basic information such as numbers, time, dates, and personal information.
- Develop foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Korean.

Pronunciation & Writing
- Hangul consonants and vowels
- Basic syllable structure and combinations
- Final consonant (batchim) pronunciation
